LBWF 5 a Side Champions

Posted on: 05/12/2017

Our year 7 ambassadors did us proud on Friday when they copped the Waltham Forest borough 5 a side championship at Goals in Chingford. By virtue of their impeccable performance in the preliminary round, the boys were installed as tournament favourites .They squeezed past a plucky Lammas team 3-2 in the semis and then set their eyes on the main prize. It was a hard fought final against a pumped up Holy Family unit cheered on by their vociferous legion of fans. Our boys stuck to the game plan with discipline which belied their very tender ages. In the end we came out 4-3 victors and the celebrations began !

All the boys played a pivotal role in getting us to the final and eventually the championship title. We scored a whopping 30 goals in all and conceded 9 .

Rilind  7/2  emerged as the tournament’s top goal poacher with an astounding haul of 16 goals in 7 matches! He is going places !

Clement  7/1 his well-coached left foot and deft movements was a joy to behold.

Rio  7/6 moved about the pitch with a sense of assuredness and scored a peach of a goal.

Sulamain  7/1 physically imposing and fearless, he orchestrated many of our forward moves.

Bryant 7/5 The captain of the team. Led his charges with a sense of purpose and was  gritty at the back to say the least.

Yani  7/6  diminutive in stature but a stout hearted player. He  ran through defences without fear.

Nikolay  7/1 the find of the tournament in my estimation. Was deployed to play several roles but never shirked his responsibilities.

Fahad   7/5 very disciplined and assured, was rewarded for his hard work with a sublime goal.

Saeed  7/2 was awesome between the sticks. His last gasp save in the final gave us the championship.

PLEASE congratulate all the above for being worthy ambassadors on Friday. We are the toast of the Borough!
