Statement from the Headteacher

Posted on: 25/03/2021

Dear parents/carers,

You may be aware that the school has been subject to a range of allegations on social media. By way of reassurance I thought it would be helpful to provide a fuller picture of what has happened to ensure you are kept informed.

A student has been causing significant behaviour issues in school and this has impacted adversely upon the wellbeing and learning of other students.    The student has therefore faced a range of behaviour sanctions to support the learning and safe school experience of all within the school community.  The student and his family have made allegations that the child is a victim of injury and bullying, particularly around the use of social media.  On each occasion these incidents were fully investigated and the police informed. We continue to co-operate with the police over these issues.

All school investigations around  such incidents were overseen by senior experienced colleagues. However, after a complaint from the family the details of these investigations were further scrutinised by the Headteacher who found that the student had been treated fairly, that the investigation was carried out in a transparent appropriate way,  appropriate actions were taken and all findings were shared with the family.  The family have recently written to the school to state that  they remain unhappy and would now like to escalate their complaint to the governing body.  The family were sent the complaints policy on 22 March but have yet to submit a complaint to the governors.

Willowfield remains a safe place for all and we will never ever tolerate racism.
