Update for parents and carers about home learning May 2020Posted on: 01/05/2020
From Monday 4 May all students will be set assessment assignments in Microsoft Teams Classes in English, maths and science, and for Year 10, in all of their option subjects too.
These assessment assignments have been designed to check learning we have set over the past weeks. Teachers will feed back on completed assessment assignments, but not give students grades.
Students should try and complete these assessment assignments and submit them in Teams or email their teachers completed assignments ideally within a week, if they are well and able to do so. If they can’t complete these assignments within a week, then they should try and complete them as soon as they can.
If students need help with submitting completed assessment assignments, they can send a Teams message or email their teacher, or refer to the Teams support guide here:
Later this half-term, other subjects will set assessment assignments for Years 7, 8 and 9.
There will be no reporting on assessment this term due to the current special circumstances.
Support for home learning
Government recommended resources to support home learning are included below: the school is making use of these where they support our planned schemes of learning:
· a list of educational online resources which have been identified by some of the country’s leading educational experts to help pupils to learn at home
· enhanced education provision from the BBC to include daily lessons, starting from 20 April 2020
· a package of support by the Oak National Academy, a sector led initiative to support teachers educating their pupils remotely during the summer term.
We highly recommend that students join a Waltham Forest public library to be able to borrow e-books to continue their reading for pleasure. Please find a link for this below:
