Oxford University TripPosted on: 18/02/2019
On the 13th February 2019, 9 Willowfield students from year 10 went to Oxford University to learn more about University life. In a joint trip with Kelmscott and Walthamstow School for Girls, Willowfield travelled for two hours to Oxford and more specifically St. Peter’s College.
During the day, we were spoken to by Dan – a former music graduate from Oxford University who is now their liaison officer. To begin with, Dan began by busting common myths, for example the myth that you had to study law to become a lawyer. We realised it was better to pick a degree for a subject that we actually enjoyed because if we were lucky to be called in for an interview, the interviewer would focus on finding out whether we were actually passionate about our chosen subject.
After lunch, we were allowed to see some of Oxford’s accommodation before we went to one of Oxford’s museums where we were taught tips on how to improvise during interviews.
Overall, we really enjoyed finding out about the collegiate system and learning more about university applications
